Water aid and PepsiCo have collaborated to give funds for a water filtration facility in Punjab, Pakistan. The water filtration plant aims to provide clean water and is beneficial for an estimated 2300 people residing in Jinnah park of Gulberg and Basti Allah Ho. The water facility provides access to 2500 residents of the Basti Fateh Abad area.
Chairman Punjab Food Authority, Umer Tanveer, inaugurated the rehabilitation facility and applauded water aid, and Pepsi Co. Water aid supports Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Clean and Green Pakistan Initiative”, which promises “access to safe water” for everyone.
Pepsi Co supports the Clean and Green Pakistan Initiative and is working towards providing access to clean water for 140,000 people by 2021. CEO of Pepsi Co in Pakistan and Afghanistan, Furqan Ahmed Syed, says that access to clean water is significant for healthy living, and in their efforts to provide clean water, they collaborated with water aid to provide water to the residents of Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. He also said that this water filtration facility is a part of their bigger mission to give access to clean and safe water to 22 million by 2025 globally.
The water crisis is one of the challenges faced by the world, and especially developing countries like Pakistan and managing the water crisis issue is of prime importance. Pepsi Co and water aid are on track to provide excess to clean and safe water to millions around the globe. Pepsi Co has already provided access to safe water to 22 million people since 2006, which shows their commitment and dedication towards their cause.
